NEW VCs IN THE MARKET
🏦 Venture Capital updates
VCs have almost completely abandoned biotech investing:
Biotech VC fundraising has dropped 92% from its 2018 peak and now represents just 3% of all VC capital raised in 2025.
High capital costs, fewer exits, and a shift in focus to AI are driving the decline, despite biotech’s long-term resilience.
Notable exceptions remain: biotech exits rose in 2024, with IPOs from CG Oncology, Kyverna Therapeutics, and Bicara Therapeutics.

OpenAI claims to have hit $10B in annual revenue:
OpenAI says it has reached $10 billion in annual recurring revenue, nearly doubling from $5.5 billion the previous year.
The revenue includes consumer, business, and API products, with over 500 million weekly active users and 3 million paying business customers.
Despite the growth, OpenAI remains under financial pressure due to high infrastructure and talent costs, with a $125 billion revenue goal set for 2029.
Apple researchers say AI models fail true reasoning:
Apple researchers claim large language models are failing true reasoning, as they prioritize benchmark scores over actual problem-solving according to a recent paper.
Their research paper detailed how AI, including OpenAI's o3-mini, showed declining accuracy and used fewer inference-time tokens on harder custom-designed puzzles, termed a "collapse."
Researchers concluded AI systems are not as advanced in reasoning as assumed, since models failed to improve on the Tower of Hanoi puzzle even with the algorithm.
Microsoft unveils handheld console after 10 years of speculation:
Microsoft announced the Asus ROG Xbox Ally hardware line, a Windows-11-powered handheld console representing its largest step into portable gaming yet.
This new device offers access to titles from Game Pass, Battle.net, and other PC storefronts via an "aggregated gaming library" system.
It boots to an "Xbox Experience for Handheld," a bespoke interface hiding Windows, which aims for higher framerates by minimizing background activity.
OpenAI updates ChatGPT’s voice mode with more natural-sounding speech:
OpenAI upgraded ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice with more lifelike intonation, cadence, and emotional expressiveness.
The update also improves real-time language translation, letting users carry multilingual conversations without interruption.
Available to all paid users, the feature still has minor audio glitches and doesn’t yet fix hallucination issues like unintended sounds.
Still no AI-powered, ‘more personalized’ Siri from Apple at WWDC 25:
Apple delayed the launch of its next-gen AI-powered Siri again, with no major updates shared at WWDC 25, pushing expectations into 2026.
Siri’s personalized features were first teased in 2024, but reports say the tech wasn’t reliable enough for release; Apple has since reorganized its AI leadership.
In the meantime, Apple is leaning on OpenAI integrations and has rolled out other AI features across iOS 26, Watch, and Xcode.
